Endurance Technologies is into manufacturing of diverse auto components (aluminium die casting; suspension; transmission & braking products) for multiple vehicle segments (mostly 2/3 WH currently).
Outsourcing has been added few years back (2008-2009) and was introduced with the purpose of reduction in risk exposure by Endurance. It was a strategic decision to outsource a portion of component development as per customer requirements and avoid heavy investments in new machines and other capacity enhancement related factors.
There are three areas covered by Corp Purchase Global Sourcing (Proprietary Division); Strategic Sourcing (New Customer Products Honda & Hero for Proprietary Division) and Die-casting & Machining Outsourcing. Each focus area has a dedicated team and jobholder is a team member of the Machining Outsourcing team and reports to the Sr. Manager Outsourcing (Die-casting & Machining). Die-casting is done in plants and for machining the components are sent to outsourcing units. FGs (Finished Goods) are received from the outsourcing units to go on further process .
For both existing and new product development (depending on the customer requirements) decision for outsourcing of machining job is taken by the plant. This is followed by jobholder co-coordinating with machine shop for understanding tooling, gauging, and fixtures and other technical requirements on one hand and assessing what part to be outsourced and with which outsourcing unit on the other hand. For the purpose the jobholder is expected to carry out supplier assessment, send drawings to supplier, gather quotations from suppliers, study the drawing, make RFQ (jobholder's part), get information on costing, making of PO's (development) & scheduling agreement, co-ordinate for sampling activity (including pilot batch) at supplier end etc. The jobholder is expected to co-ordinate for the pilot batch, compliance, resolution of escalated issues (quality, R&D, Plant, customer etc.), monitor on SAP for quantity receipt and follow-up for receiving ok quantity from supplier, within agreed QCD parameters. The thrust is on resolving capacity constraint of plant by doing component outsourcing and ensuring cost and cycle time reduction in the process.
The jobholder has interface with internal and external key stakeholders right from die planning with PPC to dispatching ok products at the customer end. The focus is on co-ordination and follow-up. Internally the jobholder has interface with PPC (die planning data for machining plan and coordination and follow-up for receiving the FGs from the supplier); quality (for ensuring defect free products); stores (for on-time casting dispatch to suppliers) and R&D (as per requirements). Externally the jobholder is required to work in close coordination with the supplier plant head QA & store to ensure maximum quantity in the required quality and time and customers for closing any complaints or issues surfaced during audits.
Going forward, the jobholder is expected to look at aspects like contingency planning (like maintaining multi-supplier for same component) in event of any machine breakdowns at the supplier end, outsource old tooling/fixtures to suppliers and ensure that stores/SAP implementer maintains the correct data against correct item code.
Responsibilities % Time Spent
1. To co-ordinate and ensure for data collection ,offloading inhouse components & also new components development (including sample activity, PPAP, SOP) at supplier end within agreed QCD parameters. 35%
2. Improvement in productivity by reducing cycle time, and up gradation of process. Ramp up of production as per customer demand. 10%
3. To co-ordinate and ensure with supplier for delivery of parts as per agreed quantity, quality and time schedule and ensure timely resolution of issues, corrective measures and actions for the same. 25%
4. To co-ordinate and follow-up for supplier assessment, generating vendor codes, PO etc. as per stated requirements. 10%
5. To closely monitor reports on rejections at customer end as well as supplier end & communicate to supplier & taking CAPA & 8D from them. 15%
6 To co-ordinate for audit at supplier end and ensure closure of audit comments within stipulated time. 5%
Salary: INR 6,00,000 - 14,00,000 P.A.
